Will Ishaan Find Out About Nayanika’s Illness In Mumbai?
Ujjaini told Nayanika what Neil had said about her health. Indrani looked at Nayanika and said she seemed perfectly fine to her — she was even going to Mumbai happily. Ujjaini said Neil was a specialist and he must have noticed something. She left. Indrani said Neil was different from other people. Jaya blamed Neil for the sadness that sat around Nayanika lately. Shreya asked whether they thought Neil was wrong for showing concern. Nayanika cut through it — Neil no longer had the right to show concern for her. That was the end of it for her.
Somewhere else Ishaan was writing in his diary. He was going to visit children with cancer the next day. He wrote that it would have been something if Nayanika could have come with him. Then he wrote that he knew it would stay a dream.
Later Ujjaini came to Nayanika asking for extra pocket money — a friend’s birthday was coming up. Nayanika smiled and pulled out an envelope she had already kept ready. Ujjaini had not even finished asking. Nayanika then told her not to worry if her return from Mumbai got delayed. Ujjaini asked why she had not booked a return ticket. Nayanika said the hospital would handle that. Ujjaini said she could not manage without her. Nayanika said it might be more than two days. Ujjaini told her to come back as fast as she could. Then she asked again — was Nayanika actually fine, because of what Neil had said.
Nayanika told her she was just tired and would be fine soon. Ujjaini said she wanted to sleep next to her tonight. She hugged her and talked about Shirsho — how he loved and respected Nayanika, how he had come with her when she met Neil. Then she asked the question she had been sitting with. If Neil loved Nayanika, why had he hurt her. She wondered quietly if Neil still had feelings for her. Nayanika said she did not want anyone’s love. Ujjaini held her tighter and said tonight Nayanika was her little baby and she would put her to sleep. She sang a lullaby. Old memories played in her head — moments from when Ujjaini was small and Nayanika was the one holding her. Now it was the other way around. Nayanika fell asleep. Ujjaini lay there thinking that she had nobody in this world except her mother. She asked God to make her better.
Morning came and Nayanika got ready quietly. She leaned over and kissed Ujjaini’s forehead while she was still asleep. Rusha was up early and had breakfast ready. Nayanika was caught off guard by that. Rusha told her she was not less than any son of the house — if a son were leaving like this, Indrani would have done all of this without being asked. Nayanika told Rusha she must have been her mother in another life. Then she said something that made Rusha stop — she asked her to look after Ujjaini if anything happened to her. Rusha asked why she was suddenly talking like that. Was she fine. Nayanika said yes. Rusha told her not to say things like that and asked her to call once she landed. Nayanika hugged her and promised she would eat at the airport. Then she left.
At Ishaan’s place Bishu told him to come home for lunch. Ishaan said he was going to the cancer hospital and could not make it. Might skip dinner too. Bishu threatened to pack up and leave one day. Ishaan told him he would book him a business class ticket. Later it turned out Nayanika had also planned to go to the cancer hospital after her seminar in Mumbai.

Nayanika asks Ishaan where he is taking her. Ishaan tells her to let him be there for her through what is coming. He says he will not get in the way of her happiness. He just does not want to lose her.
Editor’s Take
Ujjaini singing Nayanika to sleep while remembering being the one who was sung to — that was the emotional centre of this episode and it did not need any big dialogue to land. The role reversal said everything. Nayanika asking Rusha to look after Ujjaini if anything happened to her was not something she planned to say. It came out because it has been sitting in her chest and she could not keep it in completely. Rusha catching it and asking questions was the closest anyone in that house has come to the truth. The cancer hospital being where both Nayanika and Ishaan are heading separately — without knowing the other will be there — is the kind of collision this show sets up quietly and then lets explode.
