Aparajita’s shock is visible the moment she sees Lalit and Chandrabhaga standing inside her house. Before she can say a word Malti steps close and quietly tells her to hold herself together because Aradhya’s future in-laws are present and this is not the moment. Aparajita swallows it.Pramila greets Chandrabhaga warmly and the gathering moves forward.Malti signals that it is Lalit’s turn for the ritual. Lalit, never one to miss an opportunity to make a point, refuses to sit — he says the groom holds the seat of respect in these traditions, not the bride. He then turns it around and makes Aparajita sit instead. Chandrabhaga carries out the ritual.On

On the surface everything looks exactly as it should.Across town Rakshit is taking care of details nobody asked him to. He tells Dubey to make sure the DJ sticks to nineties songs because he does not want Aparajita walking into something unfamiliar and feeling out of place. Dubey tells him the tea counter is already set up and he has ordered poha and jalebi as well. Rakshit says simply that this is likely the first time Aparajita is coming to this kind of party and he wants her to feel at ease. Dubey reads between the lines and says what he is thinking — that Rakshit wants to impress her and after the divorce comes through he can say what he actually feels.

Rakshit stops him there. He says that is not what this is. He just wants to see her happy. He has no intention of using her pain as an opening. Dubey apologises and means it.Rakshit then sits with the question of whether to call her or not. Before he can decide, Sudha calls him. He tells her Aparajita is coming to the office party and he will bring her along. Sudha’s mood lifts immediately and she hangs up.Inside the house the ritual wraps up with Pramila taking a photo of Aparajita and Lalit together, saying warmly how obvious it is that Lalit loves her. Lalit leans close to Aparajita and murmurs that this is exactly what she had wanted — implying that she is the one who asked for all of this.He

He moves to feed her as part of the ritual. Aparajita stops his hand. Pramila catches the pause and asks if something is wrong. Chandrabhaga starts to say that Aparajita is being inappropriate. Aparajita redirects the moment — she says today belongs to Rohan and Aradhya and they should be the ones at the centre of it, not her and Lalit. Lalit has nothing to say against that and lets it go.At Rakshit’s house Vivaan asks Sudha why Aparajita is being invited to a birthday party. Sudha tells him Rakshit wants her there and she sees this as her chance to find out why Aparajita said no to Rakshit.Elsewhere

Elsewhere Ira is in a completely different mood — she tells Badi Maa that today is the day Rakshit is going to propose to her. Badi Maa plays along, already picturing herself as queen of the house once Ira becomes the daughter-in-law. Sudha notices Ira looking unusually pleased with herself and asks Vivaan to find out why. Vivaan says he will look into it and Sudha says she will try Sheela instead.Once Pramila and her family leave, the atmosphere in the house shifts. Aparajita does not hold back and tells Lalit directly that he had no business coming here.

Malti steps in and tells her she was the one who called them, because Lalit genuinely regrets what he did and deserves a chance. A courier arrives in that moment. Aparajita picks it up and turns to Lalit — she tells him he refused to agree to a mutual divorce, so she has brought the divorce notice to him herself and hands it over. Lalit tells her he does not want to divorce her. Aparajita warns him not to even think about tearing up those papers. She tells him she will get this divorce no matter what it takes. Chandrabhaga puts on her performance — tears, dramatics, saying she should have died before witnessing this. Malti asks her not to speak like that and turns to Aparajita asking her to reconsider.Aparajita

Aparajita looks at Malti and speaks plainly — she has been thinking about this for four years and the time for reconsidering is long gone. This marriage needs to end.Then Lalit picks up a knife. He says he would rather die than sign those papers. He holds it to his wrist and threatens to cut himself.The episode ends there.—

Aparajita comes down the stairs with her luggage packed. Malti tells her she has made the right decision and that she will find happiness in Lalit’s house. Aparajita sets her straight — she is leaving this house but she is not going anywhere near Lalit’s. She says she would choose hell before going back to him.—

Editor’s Take

Lalit picking up that knife at the end is manipulation, not love, and the show is not trying to hide that. A man who genuinely loves someone does not use the threat of self-harm to keep them from leaving. That is control dressed up as devotion and Aparajita knows it even if Malti is still being pulled in by the performance. Chandrabhaga crying about dying before seeing this day was its own kind of theatre — two people in the same room using completely different tactics to achieve the same result. The precap suggests Aparajita has seen through all of it and made her decision, which makes Malti’s reaction the more complicated one to watch because she clearly still believes she is protecting her daughter.
