Sairaab Update: Nayanika Excluded From Puja Ritual, Ishaan Hallucinates Her
The episode opens on an emotional note. Nayanika watches Ishaan’s concert through the TV screen as he sings her poem lines. Ishaan tells the audience it is a love song. Someone from the crowd asks who he is dedicating it to. Ishaan says the one he loves is like a star in the sky — you can feel her light but you cannot reach her. Nayanika sits quietly taking in every word.
The next morning the priest arrives and tells Indrani to bring five married women to offer water for the ritual. Neil and Angana arrive with Rohan. Indrani is delighted. Jaya and Rusha call out to Nayanika to join. Shreya immediately raises an objection — how can Nayanika participate. Indrani agrees without hesitation. She says Nayanika is not a married woman anymore. She is divorced. Nayanika says Indrani is right and asks them to proceed without her.
Neil steps in and says this is an auspicious occasion — why create divisions. Indrani says he would not understand. It is about custom. Nayanika’s own father twists the knife further. He says in a taunting tone that Nayanika is no longer the daughter-in-law of that house and this fact should be remembered in every matter. Nayanika tells them quietly that she is not interested in these customs anyway. Her mother asks why Nayanika was invited at all if she cannot participate. Indrani dismisses it as a simple matter.
Nayanika turns to go inside. Angana asks her to stay — she does not want her to leave because of this. Nayanika tells Angana not to ruin the mood on her account. She goes inside and cries alone.
Sitting by herself she notices Ishaan has not called. She thinks his attachment has run its course. She recalls his song. She worries about whether he is completing his treatment. Then she catches herself — why does she even worry about him. She tells herself to stop thinking about him. Then quietly she murmurs — maybe if Ishaan were with her she would not have had to face this humiliation today.
Mini, Romeo, Rohan and Gabloo find her. Mini says she felt bad about what happened. Nayanika asks them not to mention it to Ujjaini. She gives the guitar to Gabloo as she promised. Rusha comes and sends the kids for food. She sits with Nayanika and tells her to drink water and break her fast. Nayanika says she chose to stay in this house so she has to bear these things. She says she does not care.
Rusha tells her that insult and pain cannot simply be ignored. She tells Nayanika to leave. Nayanika asks where she would go with Ujjaini. The hospital quarters are not safe. Ujjaini needs to grow up in a family environment. She says she will leave once Ujjaini is settled. Rusha hugs her feeling completely helpless.
At college Shirsho tells Ujjaini his mother invited her for a puja. Ujjaini asks why he told his mother about her specifically. She tells him plainly she is not interested in marriage and has made no commitments to him.
Back at the house Gabloo shows everyone the guitar. Indrani asks how Nayanika can give away something from her mother-in-law’s house to her own family. Nayanika says she bought that guitar with her own money and Ujjaini is not using it. She asks her parents not to leave without eating. Her father says Nayanika is not eating free food in that house — implying she earns her keep. The comment lands as it was meant to.
Across the city Ishaan is alone. He hallucinates Nayanika standing in front of him.
