Will Nayanika Let Ishaan In Before It’s Too Late?

Ishaan told Nayanika nothing was going to happen to her. Dr. Raj had said it himself — they had caught it early. Nayanika told him Ujjaini was only in her first year of college. Ishaan said he would take responsibility for Ujjaini. He told her their meeting was not random — the universe had brought them together for a reason. Nayanika asked him why he loved her this much. He said he did not have a clean answer for that. He just knew she mattered to him in a way he could not explain away. Nayanika told him that a younger version of herself would have believed every word of this. But she had been through too much to let herself fall into something like that now. Ishaan told her she did not have to believe it — he was just telling her what was true for him. She asked why he got irritated so easily. He said he was an adult. They reached his house.

In Kolkata, Angana told Neil that Nayanika had made up the seminar and gone to Mumbai to be with Ishaan. She said one of the band members had confirmed it. Neil said maybe Ishaan needed her for lyrics. Angana pushed harder and asked what the need was to stay in his house. Neil got angry at that. He did not like where she was taking it. But he called Nayanika’s senior anyway just to be sure. There had been a real seminar. He confirmed it. Angana suggested they go to Basu’s house. Neil agreed.

Ishaan showed Nayanika her room. She told him she could not stay long and that treatment in Kolkata was an option too. She said she would only stay if it was truly necessary. Ishaan’s face changed when she said that — he looked lighter. He asked her to promise she would stay. She refused to make that promise. He looked deflated. Then she asked if he was free the next day. He said he had nothing scheduled. She told him she wanted to see the ocean. He said he would take her. He asked her to rest and told her he was going to cook something for her. She told him not to go to so much trouble. Ishaan told her she was someone he wanted to do things for. Nayanika said quietly that nobody had thought about her like this before. Ishaan told her he was glad he got to be the first for so many things when it came to her. He went to the kitchen.

Nayanika sat with that and started writing. Poems came out of her the way they always did when something was sitting heavily or beautifully inside her. Ishaan cooked.

Back in Kolkata Neil told Ujjaini the seminar was real. Ujjaini told him she had not asked him to verify anything. Indrani pointed out Nayanika had not called since reaching Mumbai. Grandpa said there was nothing wrong with her seeing Ishaan — she could have gone to discuss lyrics. Shreya asked why staying at his house was necessary then. Ujjaini told all of them to stop calling Nayanika the daughter-in-law of this house because she was not and they kept using that label only when it was convenient.

In Mumbai Nayanika finished eating and told Ishaan the food was good. He was visibly happy. She read him the poem she had written.

Precap

Ishaan asks God not to take Nayanika from him. Nayanika prays for his happiness.

Editor’s Take

Nayanika saying a younger version of herself would have believed all of it was the most honest thing she has said to Ishaan directly. She is not pushing him away because she does not feel anything — she is pushing because she has felt things before and knows what losing them costs. Ishaan cooking for her while she writes poems in the next room is a quietly domestic image for two people who have not admitted anything to each other yet. Neil verifying the seminar and Angana still not being satisfied tells you this is not about the truth for her — it is about Neil’s attention staying where she wants it. Ujjaini defending Nayanika in that room while also being the one most hurt by Ena’s call is the complicated place the show has put her in and it is working.
